Tacaíocht Foghlama /Learning Support

S’í an aidhm atá ag Gaelscoil Charman ná tacaíocht foghlama a sholáthair i slí sheasmhach agus córasach. Leanann an scoil na treoirlínte mar atá leagtha amach ag an Roinn Oideachas is Scileanna. Is é an cuspóir atá againn ná tacaíocht a sholáthair atá pointeáilte agus géar atá bunaithe ar mheasúnú leanúnach, agus cur chuige comhoibritheach idir an Múinteoir Ranga, an Múinteoir tacaíocht foghlama is na tuismitheoirí.

In Gaelscoil Charman we aim to provide support in a consistent and systematic way. We adhere to the guidelines as set out in “Special Educational Needs, A Continuum of Support” as recommended by the Department of Education and Skills. It is our aim to supply support in a manner that delivers directed interventions, which requires ongoing assessment and a co-operative approach between the Learning Support Teacher, the Class Teacher and the parent’s.

Tacaíocht ranga / Classroom Support

Is minic gurb í anTacaíocht Ranga an chéad chéim agus an chéim is comónta chun réiteach a fháil ar riachtanais a bhíonn ag teacht chun cinn. Baineann an réiteach seo le daltaí ag a bhfuil riachtanais speisialta oideachais atá éagsúil nó aonarach agus a mbíonn cur chuigí ag teastáil uathu don fhoghlaim agus/nó don iompraíocht a bhíonn sa bhreis nó a bhíonn éagsúil ó na cur chuigí siúd a theastaíonn ó dhaltaí eile ina rang. Go minic tosaíonn an chuid is mó de pháistí ag an leibhéal seo nuair a bhíonn imní ar thuismitheoir nó ar mhúinteoir faoi dhalta áirithe. Labhraíonn an múinteoir agus na tuismitheoirí le chéile faoin bhfadhb agus pléann siad straitéisí a d’fhéadfadh a bheith éifeachtach. Bíonn na cur chuigí simplí, neamhfhoirmiúla a bhaineann le réiteach fadhbanna
san áireamh sa Tacaíocht Ranga – cur chuigí a bhíonn in úsáid go minic ag múinteoirí ranga chun tacú le riachtanais a bhíonn ag teacht chun cinn.

Classroom Support is the most common, and typically the first response to emerging needs. It is a response for pupils who have distinct or individual educational needs and who require approaches to learning and/or behaviour which are additional to or different from those required by other pupils in their class. Problem solving at this level typically begins when a parent or teacher has concerns about an individual pupil. The teacher and parents discuss the nature of the problem and consider
strategies which may be effective. Classroom Support incorporates the simple, informal
problem-solving approaches commonly used by class teachers to support emerging needs.

Tacaíocht Scoile / School Support

Ní leor idirghabhálacha ó thaobh na tacaíochta ranga de i roinnt cásanna chun freastal go hiomlán ar riachtanais speisialta oideachais dalta. D’fhéadfadh dá bhrí sin gur ghá Tacaíocht Scoile. Ní mór don mhúinteoir ranga cabhair an mhúinteora tacaíochta foghlama/acmhainne a fháil don phróiseas chun fadhbanna a réiteach ag an bpointe seo agus áirítear leis an bpróiseas eolas a bhailiú ar bhealach níos córasaí agus Plean Tacaíochta Scoile nó Próifíl Foghlama an Dalta Aonair a fhorbairt agus monatóireacht a dhéanamh ar cibé ceann.

In some cases interventions at classroom support level are not enough to fully meet the pupil’s special educational needs. School Support may, therefore, be required. The class teacher needs to involve the learning support/resource teachers in the problem-solving process at this point and it involves more systematic gathering of information and the development and monitoring of a
School Support Plan or an Individual Pupil Learning Profile (IPLP).

Más riachtanais throma agus/nó riachtanais leanúnacha na riachtanais speisialta oideachais a bhíonn ag dalta is mó seans go mbeidh diantacaíocht ag teastáil uaidh/uaithi. Is gnách go mbíonn baint ag daoine nach baill d’fhoireann na scoile iad le Tacaíocht Scoile Móide sa phróiseas ar fhadhbanna a réiteach, ar mheasúnú agus ar idirghabháil. Is é an t-eolas a gheofar as na pleananna Tacaíochta Ranga agus Scoile an túsphointe chun fadhbanna a réiteach ag an
leibhéal seo. Beidh tábhacht i gcónaí leis an tacaíocht ranga agus an tacaíocht scoile sa Phlean Oideachais ar bhonn Dalta Aonair.

If a pupil’s special educational needs are severe and/or persistent, they are likely to need intensive support. School Support Plus will generally involve personnel outside the school team in the problem solving, assessment and intervention process. However, the information
from Classroom and School Support work will provide the starting point for problem-solving at this level. Classroom support and school support will continue to be an important element of his/her individual education plan.
